The goals of Sea of Change are to:

         1.  Educate audiences around the world about the impact of overfishing in our oceans.
         2.  Reach diverse audiences through adventure, beauty and entertainment.
         3.  Relay current successes of implemented solutions toward the problem.
         4.  Empower the viewer by illustrating the positive impact of simple actions.
         5.  Give examples of what people can do everyday to support sustainable fisheries.


History of Recent Successes
for Sea of Change:

  • 8/09-  Best Environmental Short at the Downtown Film Festival Los Angeles.
  • 8/09-  Selected as one of five films to show to over 1,200 students from all over Northern Arizona at the Flagstaff Mountain Film Festival, in addition to the regular screening.
  • 5/09-  Nominated as an Emerging Underwater Filmmaker Finalist at the Blue Ocean Film Festival.
  • 5/09-  Recipient of Amphibico Scholarship for Underwater Filming Sessions.
  • 12/08-  Recipient of the Artist Project Grant from the Arizona Commission on the Arts.
  • 10/08-  First Place Documentary Short in the 2008 Moving Pictures Magazine Film Contest.
  • 9/08-    Screened at the Global Peace Film Festival, Orlando, FL, which included venues at the Orlando Science Center and Rollins College.
  • 8/08-    Recipient of Professional Development Grant from the Arizona Commission on the Arts.
  • 3/08-    Presentation at the Aspen Environment Forum, hosted by National Geographic and The Aspen Institute, with discussion panel including top ocean policy experts.
  • 2/08-    Screened at the Sedona International Film Festival to sold out audiences.
  • 10/07-  Recipient of Women in Film/General Motors 2007 Emerging Filmmaker Award.

Filmmaker Biography:
  Writer/Producer/Director/Cinematographer/Editor Jamie Taucher has been focused on sustainability issues since 1996.  Her efforts have brought her to:
  • The first International Fair Trade Symposium in Mexico to combat the inequity founded in the World Trade Organization agreementsThe Symposium worked to solidify trade options that support a healthy environment, culture and economy.
  • Research and record geologic data in the tributaries of the Grand Canyon for "Wild and Scenic River" designation.
  • Gain perspectives into important global topics by working with east coast beekeepers, Alaskan salmon seiners, Mexican ranchers, and Costa Rican loggers.
  • Publicly present her bachelors thesis entitled "Globalization:  Ethically Assessing World Relations and Empowerment toward Participatory Involvement".
